Cobalt and Calcium Community Rules & Guidelines

Cobalt and Calcium has grown tremendously over the past years and we thank all of you for being a part of this community. In order to keep the website running smoothly and to prevent problems, please follow these simple terms. If you have any questions, concerns or problems, please feel free to contact one of our Staff members.

Although the Staff members of Cobalt and Calcium will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this website, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and the owners of Cobalt and Calcium, Coheed and Cambria, Sony Music Entertainment and vBulletin Solutions, Inc. (developers of vBulletin) will not be held responsible for the content of any message.

If you continue to browse and use this website, you are agreeing to comply with and be bound by the following Rules & Guidelines and our Terms of Service, which together with our Privacy Policy govern Cobalt and Calcium's relationship with you. If you disagree with any part of these Rules and Guidelines please do not use our website.

General Forum Rules

1. Do not abuse or otherwise harass the users of Cobalt and Calcium
   Treat fellow users the way you wish to be treated. While debating and discussion are fine, we will not tolerate any discrimination, harassment, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. You will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws. If you believe someone is being abusive or the content of a post is unacceptable, please use the report post button so that our Staff can look into this. This forum also features an Ignore List. You can choose to ignore any user that you may find unsavoury.
2. Do not retaliate to abusive posts, report them to our Staff
   If you feel that you are on the receiving end of abuse, please use the report function. Retaliating in an equally negative manner will only lead to usage of infractions, as needed for both parties. Remember that you can also choose to add users to your personal Ignore List if you so desire.
3. No Spam
   Spamming is not permitted; please keep all your posts as constructive as possible. Refrain from posting excessively in a row, collate all your points in one post. Unnecessary bumping of topics is also considered spam. Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts, and the like. This includes using the forum, email, visitor messages, blog comments, picture comments and private message systems to spam other members.
   

   
   From time to time, Automated Bots may get through our filters, please do not reply to these posts, simply report them.

4. Content Usage & Links to Material
   Discussion of illegal activities such as software and music piracy and other intellectual property violations are not allowed. Piracy of any kind, violations of copyright or any other illegal materials may not be linked on Cobalt and Calcium. Pornographic content may be linked (not posted outright) and must have a “NSFW” (Not suitable for work) tag next to it so people are aware of the content of the link.
   
   In the past, users have been banned from the Cobalt and Calcium Message Board due to "discussion of leaked material".
   
   • Pre-release Penelope EP tracks (Star Cecil, Disciple's Anthem, Strung Short, Goodnight, and Wake-up).
   • Shabutie Garage Demos (Ambassador Johnson, Bloody Brit Song, Have You A Little Fairy In Your Home, Punk Song, Sarah Lawrence, Sarah Lawrence Strikes Back, Sun Blue, and Zut).
   However, our Staff has decided that since these tracks were not "leaked", so to speak (they were merely distributed by a former Shabutie band member), discussion of said songs should no longer be prohibited. We feel that these songs should not be shunned, but rather viewed as a part of the band's history. Therefore, further discussion of said songs will not result in a ban. However, we will not allow sharing of the files on this site. If links to said songs are posted, you will receive an infraction.
   

   
   *You may, however, feel free to post your covers of these songs.
   

   As an added warning, discussion of the following songs is still prohibited:
   
   • Acoustic In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 demo tracks (Blood Red Summer, The Crowing, Al the Killer, The Light and the Glass, Faint of Hearts)
   • Unreleased Prize Fighter Inferno tracks (Blood Machine, Run Like Hell)
   • Any future leaks of material from forthcoming Coheed and Cambria (and side projects') releases.
   These tracks are still considered leaked material, as they were made available to the public prior to the albums' releases. Discussion of these tracks is strictly prohibited and will result in an infraction and possible banning, at the discretion of the staff. In addition we will not host any rips of Coheed and Cambria copyrighted material. Bootlegs or recordings of concerts however are permitted in most cases.
   

5. Be polite to the new members
   We ask that you make the effort to be courteous to new members while they find their feet on the board. A new user making mistakes is not a reason to abuse them, instead direct them to a Staff member. Abusing new members will not be tolerated.
6. Respect our Staff Members
   Users may not argue a Staff members decision publicly. Any and all inquiries directed at a Staff member must first address the Staff member in question via Private Message. If the problem can not be resolved, then the Staff member and user must send their positions to the forum Administrator(s). An Administrator will make or change any and/or all final decisions. Be nice to our Staff, they are not paid and they donate their own time to the betterment of this community.
7. Please use our Search Features
   If you are brand new to posting here please be advised that most topics you would like to discuss have already been discussed and/or have a pre-existing thread. It is strongly recommended that you utilize the Search feature to locate those threads before posting your own. Remember to post in the correct forum and search first to make sure it hasn't already been posted. Take your time to look at other topics and see where your topic should go. If your topic is placed in the wrong forum, it will be moved or closed by our Staff. When creating threads, please title them appropriately. Please use the report feature to report duplicate threads/posts that you might happen to see, and leave them for our Staff to handle.
8. Privacy Policy & User Security
   For your safety and security we require that you do not post your personal contact details in public forums. (Full name, phone number, address). For our full Privacy Policy, please click here.
   
   Also, out of respect for Coheed and Cambria, you will refrain from posting about the personal lives of band members, their family or friends.
9. No Multiple Accounts
   Please do not register more than one account for yourself. If you believe that you have an acceptable reason for a second account or if you would like to merge two accounts together please contact an Administrator first.
10. Signatures, Avatars & Posting Language
    Please keep signatures within a reasonable size. Content within signatures and Avatars must also comply with the Rules and Guidelines. The primary language of Cobalt and Calcium is English. You should post all your messages / replies in English. If you post your message in any other language, please provide a valid English translation too.
11. Forum Specific Rules
    Please read the sticky threads and any announcements or notices in different areas of the site for specific Rules & Guidelines that may pertain to posting or creating threads in those sub forums.
12. Social Media Access/Usage
    If you choose to access any of our associated Social Media/Networking sites (Twitter; Facebook; MySpace) You must agree to comply with the Terms of Service/Usage for each respective site. In addition to each sites own Terms of Service or Usage policies any content you post, upload, share or distribute must also be in compliance with the above Rules and Guidelines (within reason and as they may apply). Failure to follow our Rules and Guidelines on our Social Media/Networking pages could result in you being banned or blocked as needed or required from those sites.
13. Infraction System & User Banning
    Cobalt and Calcium uses an infraction system to enforce our Terms of Service. Infractions have various lengths depending on the situation and can lead to further action up to and including being removed from Cobalt and Calcium. Infractions show on your profile page and are on a case by case basis. Infractions and bans are at the discretion of our Staff and are generally not for public discussion. Please direct questions on this to members of our Staff.

Advertising & Marketplace Usage

Posts for personal gain, advertising and the like are only permitted in the Marketplace forum. Cobalt and Calcium will not in any way, shape, or form be held liable or legally responsible for anything that happens in the Marketplace. It is up to you to make a sound decision on whether to buy, sell or trade to someone here. This Marketplace is only provided as a convenience for our users.

Use of the Marketplace is at your own risk.

By posting and responding to threads/ads in our Marketplace you agree to follow these Rules and Guidelines (as well as the General Rules and Guidelines, Terms of Service and Privacy Policy) and agree to the addendum listed at the bottom.

Marketplace Access

• Only those in the "Contributors" Usergroup will have access to post in the Marketplace.
• Threads in the Marketplace are moderated, meaning a Staff member will review your thread prior to it being visible on the forum. If you do not meet our requirements or the guidelines listed below, your thread will be removed without notice.

Marketplace Usage & Acceptable B/S/T (Buy/Sell/Trade) Ad's and Activities

• The Marketplace is for non-commercial use. You must own/operate the items or services you intend to sell or render here.
  
  The following list explains what we consider to be "commercial use":
  
  • If you purchased the item elsewhere with the specific intent to sell it at a profit - that is considered commercial.
  • If you purchased the item through your business allowing you to buy it at wholesale prices - that is commercial.
    

• This Marketplace is mainly here for members of this website to buy/sell/trade items that were intended for personal use but are no longer necessary or practical. We also allow you to sell small personal items of a minimal value that you have created yourself. (Jewelery, Artwork etc..)
• Ads that are NOT accepted in the Marketplace include, but are not limited to; any commercial product, service or advertisement. Also forbidden are ANY illegal, stolen or pirated items or services that violate ANY applicable law. Also anything that violates our regular Rules & Guidelines. Ads of this nature will be removed and your access to the Marketplace revoked and/or reported to law enforcement as necessary and without notice to the user.
• Please write detailed titles that describe your B/S/T threads content. Post detailed descriptions in your threads. Example: Include condition of the item(s), shipment or other restrictions, a picture or anything else the buyer/seller/trader should know about it.
• Clearly specify how you want to be paid, or how you prefer to pay in your threads. (Paypal, Escrow, Check, Cash etc.) And please do also include when you want to get paid after completing a deal. (ex. "payment expected within 24 hours after agreement reached" etc.)
• You're not allowed to add any "hidden" fees when finalizing a deal. (To cover Paypal or transfer fees etc.) (This is also against the PayPal TOS) Be upfront and disclose everything in your thread.
• Do not just post external links (eBay, Craigslist etc.) or links to another forum. Add all relevant information to your thread and then place links as needed as long as the previous conditions are met. If you have sold or are selling items on eBay as part of your thread, please post a link to your screen name so users can verify your previous history/eBay feedback.
• Update your thread as necessary to make changes or to advise when something has been sold or is no longer available.
• Items that are offered for sale here should be offered to the users in the order that they responded to the for sale thread.
• Threads that have been inactive for 30 days will be considered closed.

Marketplace General Conduct

• This is not a discussion forum, please keep replies on topic, excessive off topic posting will result in removal of your Marketplace access.
• No posting of personal information (phone number, street address etc) in the Marketplace. This is for your personal safety and security.
• You cannot ask for donations or freebies.
• Please take transactions here seriously.
• The Marketplace is not to be used for announcements of sales elsewhere.

Marketplace Buyers/Sellers/Traders Advice and Tips

• Again and we can't stress this enough: Use of this Marketplace forum is at your own risk!
• Be sure to do some research before buying/selling/trading anything, both on the member (his/her posts, how long has he/she been a member here etc.) and the product/service offered. YOU in the end are responsible for the outcome of any deals made in the Marketplace. There are quite a few scammers out there on the internet, so be careful.
• If a deal seems to be too good to be true then it's a good chance that it's exactly that. If you see any threads that sound "fishy" then please report it and let the Staff handle it.
• Credit cards and trusted transaction sites (Paypal, Escrow.com etc.) are always recommended to use for payment, but be sure to read their TOS before using them. And beware of any fraudulent services!
• Never use a wire transfer or any direct banking, unless it's a trusted buyer/seller, to pay for goods/services.
• Use your common sense in all deals, both if you're the buyer or seller. Don't overprice your goods/services, do some research on similar or previous sales to find good prices.
• It is the personal responsibility of each user to follow the Rules and Guidelines listed above, as well as the General Rules and Guidelines, Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. It is your responsibility to post as correct as possible information in the threads, and to do proper research before agreeing on anything!

Marketplace Administration

Our Staff will have nothing to do with private transactions, however if any user is found to be abusing this Marketplace to scam or otherwise cause other damage to other users they will be banned with all immediate effect. ALL available information on said user including IP address, e-mail address and ANY other personal details will be handed over to the proper authorities/law enforcement as needed or required to conduct any investigations (criminal or otherwise), to find the scammers real identity and/or to help recover stolen merchandise or funds.

Marketplace Disclaimer

If your post/thread does not conform to the above, our Staff reserve the right to delete any and all of your threads in the Marketplace. We also reserve the right to block any user from the Marketplace for any reason. If you are in doubt about something please contact a Staff member before posting a thread in the Marketplace.

Cobalt and Calcium will not in any way, shape, or form be held liable or legally responsible for anything that happens in this forum. We are NOT responsible for any transactions: this is not eBay. All sales and transactions are done at buyers and sellers discretion and all risks are assumed by those parties only. Our staff cannot help to resolve B/S/T disputes.

General Rules & Guidelines Addendum

While these Rules & Guidelines cover most common situations, they cannot anticipate everything. Consequently we reserve the right to take any further actions we deem appropriate to ensure this website, forums, CMS, blogs and our users are not disrupted or abused in any way. In addition to the Rules & Guidelines above the Staff at the Cobalt and Calcium reserve the right to remove, edit, delete or close any thread or post, message or content for any reason. They also hold the right to ban members from the forum, website or Marketplace at their own discretion. We reserve the right to update and modify these Rules & Guidelines as the needs of the community dictate to ensure the smooth operation of this community. Your continued use of this website constitutes your consent to such changes.
