I didn't see them mentioned anywhere here... a relatively new Metal band, all the members are currently under 20 years old, and the lead singer is only 15! but what a voice!
They sound a lot like metallica/iron maiden/other 80's metal bands
Very talented and have such a promising future (a lot of people are heralding them as the modern saviors of metal, i dont know if i would go that far.)
They also have a song on Rock Band that was just released as DLC, the title track to their new album that's coming out 3/18

DUDE, thank you for making this thread. I was watching headbangers ball one day and I saw this band and I liked it a lot, but I couldn't remember their name after the song was over, or the song title. Their singer is only 15??? Not only is he a singer, but in the song I heard he could shred too. They really really reminded me of Megadeth when I listened to them. I think they have a chance of bringing in some good old fashioned metal. Who knows, they could be the saviors of metal in a few years. And thank god, a good new band who sings.
Oh, the song I saw on HBB was called shockwave. Any band who's lead singer is wearing a Megadeth shirt is a band I got to like :)
I heard the Cd on imeen...it was good....until like 3 or 4 songs then it jsut started getting boring....

The singer is a 15 and also plays guitar.
Btw, does their lead remind you of a young Dimebag or what:

I wouldn't expect a stellar album from guys these young. This album will be spectacular for a bunch of teenagers, but in the future is when I look for them to create more epic songs, better lyrics, more complexity, etc...There is more hope in this band thatn almost anyone I have ever heard.
sorry dude, I don't listen to much newer metal, and when I do on this site I just get bombarded with metalcore, which then turns me way off the metal thread.

Looks, yes. Playing style not so much but some influence. I think their solos are totally Megadeth. Not only one guitarist, but both guyitaristd of the Deth are well represented I think. I'll just use shockwave as an example.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rw4aqN0XlRc
The choppy solo from 1:52-2:00 is so Dave Mustaine-esque it's almost funny. But then the dual solo thing from 2:00-2:22 is really Marty Friedman sounding with like a Dragonforce feel to it as well (who were also heavily influenced by Friedman's playing).

No one plays like Friedman can...no one.
But don't assume that thats how they are...read their myspace and they all have different tastes..i mean the lead guitarist likes punk and it's irregular to shred.
I think its the old : 'playing fast is cool' thing going on right now

no, it's a conversation with me, I get it, it's cool.
And to your post before, you and I agree, I'm not saying he plays as well as Friedman (probably my favorite lead guitarist of all time). And yeah I see their influences are awesome. In some vid I saw the lead guitarist wearing a misfits shirt, who I love, even though they are punk. The point is these guy's major influences are my favorite bands. Oh and I see they are covering Hit the Lights for their new album. Even though it's not my favorite from Kill Em All, any old Metallica is good.

Yeah, I'm expecting great things in their future. Like these songs seem a little too garage rock for me to really get into it. In the future I expect tem to do epic songs like a Megadeth Holy Wars or a Metallica's One or Maiden's Hallowed Be Thy Name. Everyone has to start somewhere. Megadeth's first album was really crude and was almost a punk album wit the crap vocals, production and short length of songs. As same with Metallica, and even Iron Maiden.

I don't think they hate each other. I think the guys in Metallica are over it and Dave still holds a grudge. Not sure if I can blame him, but still.

I can respond to many of these posts :).
That's sweet that Megadeth and Metallica don't hate each other now. That would be such an orgasm if they toured together.
Um, it looks pretty new...and I think it's from the Rude Awakening DVD, which was from 2001.
Nooo, MECHANIX FTW. Even though I agree with you about the faster doesn't mean better, but I think Metallica dragged that song on a little too long, lol from that post it wouldn't seem like I would be the guy who fucking loves to death the Four Horsemen, but really I do. I guess I may be biased a little because I saw Megadeth perform Mechanix live and it was fucking inane. Everyone in the crowd was just bouncing all over and banging their heads like no tomorrow.
Back to Black Tide. Yes I see how it may seem a little too mainstreamed and manufactured, but as I said before, this album will not be their best. I look for songs like this to be their Hanson stage, they are just kids, and until they progress as songwriters and musicians, poppy and catchy will be the easiest for them to write, I can't think of many bands where their heaviest stuff was on their debut album. Give em time, they will blow minds.

I do agree they need to figure out a little more original sound for me to really get to like them, but they have the pieces and good talent and great influences, now they just need to use all those parts to make a sound that is uniquely theirs.

I think they have a lot of potential.
you guys gotta remember how young they are and realize that they are gonna need time to evolve their sound. Right now they are just teenagers who are writing stuff in the style of their favorite bands, as they continue learning and maturing they will begin to find their own sound
I think it's really cool to find a band so young and with so much talent and potential already and be able to follow them right from the beginning. That doesn't happen that often.

well obviously if there are other consequences then no one can do anything about that...but we are talking about them in purely musical terms.
as far as their talent as musicians go they are very good, especially for their age. And band logistics aside (which I thought was assumed), they have a pretty bright future.

A lot of people would agree. Megadeth aren't one of my favorite bands, but they have some pretty good stuff. Megadeth are one of the most well known metal bands out there, there is obviously a reason for that.

Not one to march in and start hating on a band but...
as a fan of 80s Metal, mainly Thrash (and i don't just mean the big four :/ listen to fucking Testament) since i was about 12, I really, really dislike these guys sound. Impressive guitar players for they're age yes, but christ its been done and done and done and done, better and better and better and better. Trivium and Bullet For Valentine are bad enough for trying to bring back the sound of the heyday of Thrash and i was a fan of those bands before they went in that direction.
Municipal Waste and SSS are the only bands harking back to the 80s i enjoy. Evile to an extent.
My main problem is that its far too... over-produced. Too glossy. Too clean. Sounds like... virgins with guitars.
there are other offenders, check out Blessed By A Broken Heart and Vanity Kills.
tl:dr buy some Testament and Exodus records.

Revolver: [Swedish cult black metal act] DISSECTION had to be canceled from Israel's 2005 Metalist fest because you don't play with Satanic bands. Do you still refuse to play with any band that has even a smidgen of Satanism?
Mustaine: First, DISSECTION didn't have to be canceled. I made clear to my agent that I won't play with Satanic bands, and the promoter booked the band without checking with the agent. Because I'm a legend, I don't need to play with people who have gone on record and said they're an enemy of mine. Because I believe in God and he believes in Satan, that means we're enemies, right? It doesn't mean I can't pray for the guy; it just means he doesn't like me and he said so. And I told them that I was stepping off the bill. I never said to cancel those guys. Second, the guy [DISSECTION frontman Jon Nödveidt] threatened me in France. I have two first-degree black belts and I was just awarded a fourth-degree black belt from the World Taekwondo Federation. If the guy wants to threaten me, bring it. I went, he wasn't there. I try really, really hard to live my life peacefully, and this guy went on record saying he was my enemy. You know what? Something happened to him. He committed suicide, didn't he? Oh, bummer.

I might be a big enough fanboy to think he isn't a dick all the time, but I don't like a lot of things he does say. However, he is very intelligent and I agree with him on a lot of political subjects and such, however, he is or was an alcoholic, no that doesn't excuse him at all, but alcohol changes people a lot. It got him kicked out of Metallica and I'm sure he said a lot of stupid things he regrets with alcohol. However, he is the nicest guy you could imagine to his fans, he's just very outspoken against anyone else. Half the stuff he says is true, but it's just too inapropriate for him to say to the public. The stuff he says is what some of us think in our heads. He called out Kirk Hammet and said he was a better guitarist, idk if that's too out there, Kirk always uses the fucking whammy or wah wah, w/e thing for ALL his solos. Dave denounced and didn't want to play with satanic bands, but who in their right mind would prefer a satanic band on the road to a non-satanic band? His stuff is harsh, but it's not so far fetched.

Yes, he is the mastermind behind Megadeth, which is the second highest selling thrash metal band of all time if I'm not mistaken. Yes, I have seen in numerous places where he really shows an intellectual side and obviously is well educated, but then again, people in metal bands are intelligent a lot of the time, ala Steve Harris, Rob Halford, and millions of other intellectual metal musicians (besides Ozzy :P).

Ok:
After waiting around for 2 hours for the show to start - we did see the lead guitarist and drummer walk around (and let's face it, you can't really miss Lex with hair like a Claudio / Dimebag cross). The opening band were Glamour of the Kill and all the way through their set some ignorant shits were shouting "FREEBIRD!" and "STAIRWAY!" (which happened all the way through the gig, even for Black Tide which makes you wonder why they paid to stand and do that). Glamour of the Kill were ok, a bit too meh for me though.
Black Tide opened with 'Black Abyss' which sounded way more evil live then their CD representation did. Then they played 'Shockwave' and about 3/4 of their album. The bassist talked mainly to the crowd, the singer (Gabriel) is actually very self-conscious and you'd of thought he'd hide under his hair which comes down nearly to his waist. Pretty funny pair tbh - the bassist and the lead guitarist.
They ended the set with a track I can't remember the name of and then walked around the venue for the rest of the night talking to fans. So I met them all and got my ticket signed, Gabriel is so shy and looked so awkward when talking to people.
But a good night overall...I'm still astounded at their guitar playing - Lex is 19 so I'm not so shocked that he's so good but Gabriel's only jus turned 15 and man he can shred.

It's frowned upon on this board if you go in and just present an opinion in such a a way, in a thread where fans of a band are discussing the music, thats asking for trouble. Respect others likes and dislikes basically, i'm sure most people would expect the same.

I don't think what he said was so bad though. he expressed his opinion that the band is horrible (which is just hi opinion) and then said something that is completely true. It's not the only comment, more and more people say 'omfg kiddie band novelty act' because the singer is 15. And yet everyone here happily listens to Protest and TFoT when they each started off at the end of their school days which was about 16 anyway.

I called them a novelty act, but it doesn't have anything to do with their age. They could all be 25 and, at this point, I would have the same opinion. It's because there is absolutely no originality in their sound so far.

You don't see me going to the Panic! At the Disco thread and trash them even though I think they are horrible, it's just kind of unclassy in my opinion. Just leave the totally negative comments like "they suck" or "they are horrible" out of the thread of the actual band please. thank you.

going on about the comment of that one dude bashing the band, yeah I overreacted, but the threads for each band is to discuss them amongst fans...to say a band is horrible obviously shows that dude was not a fan. You don't see me going to the Panic! At the Disco thread and trash them even though I think they are horrible, it's just kind of unclassy in my opinion. Just leave the totally negative comments like "they suck" or "they are horrible" out of the thread of the actual band please. thank you.
wow, another rick roll...this got old after about 5 times or it.
I don't have a problem with it if they do it once. Come in, say they're horrible, and leave. Looking back on it, he already commented on this band earlier, so yeah, he should just leave it alone.

Yeah however I admit I was harsh on him, telling him to get the fuck out is kind of being an asshole, but I just don't get ehy people go to a thread or a song by a band and just say they suck. I don't care if yout think they suck, just say it away from fans of the band like this thread. I get mad about the same thing happening all the time on Youtube, you can't watch an MCR video (band I like, yes I like them, I know you all probably hate em) without some douche commenting in the vid saying "MCR sucks balls, they are fags" or a comment like "this emo shit sux". You can have anb opinion, but leave us fans alone with it.

no, theres two ways you can do it. you can be an asshole and just be like "this band fucking sucks i hate them theyre the worst band ever".
or, you can come into the thread and discuss with people who do like the band why you dont like them, and find out why they like them, and actually have a logical discussion.

one thing i dont like about this band is the image that they are trying to project...
look at their pictures....they always look pissed wdf...look at between the buried and me's pictures, they play heavy ass shit yet they be smiling in their pictures but these guys...omg...its funny seeing a skinny 15 yr old with long hair thinking he is the shit, well i hope his personally aint cocky like that or we will have the next dave mustaine

Oh, bummer.
horrible band is horrible
Gabriel:omg guys we just heard a motley crue and megadeth album....LETS MAKE A ALBUM GUYS!!!
Other band members: YA! we can play 1980s shit and revive it!
Interscope guy: yo, there is this band filled with 14-17 year olds with 3 of em with long hair that wants to rip off 1980s music.
Interscope leader: .....hmm...sounds like a novelty act with a guaranteed 10k albums sold first week to me.....SIGN EM! while you do that book em at ozzfest and a A7X tour......

Vince Noir
05-28-2008, 11:01 AM
They're normal, family dudes. My dad is mates with a guy who was in one of the original lineups of Iron Maiden, but his father told him that basically bands are too unstable and he needs a proper job, so he went into the same industry as my Dad. They're still friends to this day i believe, i think he and Steve own a bar together in Portugal, Eddie's Bar. But yeah basically, they're just normal guys who happen to play in one of the most important metal bands ever.
slimseany66
05-28-2008, 11:22 AM
exactly, and that is why I love them...my dad has a funny story about them, so he has a bunch of guy friends from his old work that still keep in touch and go on the same fishing trip to the same lodge in Canada and have been doing it together for like 10 years now once every year...anyways, my dad only goes to that lodge once a year, with his buddies, but some of the other dudes go there more often while on vacation or w/e and supposedly, my dad's friend was at the lodge while Adrian Smith was also at the same lodge, but he didn't know much of Maiden or w/e, so he just said to my dad "yeah, I guess one time I was at the lodge there was this one guitarist of some band you probably recognize who was also there, his name was like Adrian Smith or something..."
yeah, they are all typical dudes, Dave and Adrian fish, Bruce fences and flies airplanes, Nicko is an avid golfer, idk what special hobbies Stev has, but you get the picture...
Vince Noir
05-28-2008, 12:05 PM
hahaha yeah Adrian fishes, its on Rock in Rios extras. Bruce does everything ever, Nico likes to play drunk golf at night with Dave, and Steve likes being awesome. true story.

No one will ever become the next Maiden, or the next Sabbath, or the next Metallica, or the next Priest. They are the next Black Tide and that's it. And you really want to get down to the details, they aren't the next Maiden because they don't have the songwriting or musical talent to even be compared to them yet. Yeah, they had Shockwave and Warriors of Time off their debut album, Iron Maiden had Iron Maiden, Phantom of the Opera, Remember Tomorrow and Transylvania off their first album, lol. They aren't the next anything because they don't have a unique enough style to revolutionize music like Sabbath and Metallica and Maiden and Priest did.
I hate to rant on a band which I actually like, but NO ONE should compare a modern metal band to someone like Maiden.

He just hit puberty.
Thats why his voice is a lot deeper.
Also, singing whilst standing still / sitting down in a cubicle is a lot easier than playing and singing at the same time, as well as giving a visual performance.

lol, I'm not dissing on them at all. I actually love the band and will continue to listen to them. The debut was ok for a debut, but with a lot of room to grow. I think they just sounded like, idk how to explain it, just maybe a little to material for me. I want to hear them really perfect their sound and make it something that is truly theirs. It seemed that the debut was just generic 80s metal to me.

slimseany66

no, not at all, which is why I love em. However, for them to cross the line of "good band" into "inspirational, great band" then they need to make their style and sound totally unique, as their big influences did to pave the way for metal.

they're not really that close to thrash..at all

they sound like Black Tide to me.
but thats just my opinion.
honestly when i saw them live the first thing that i thought after the show was "this doesnt sound like a band that 'sounds like Megadeth or Iron Maiden', this sounds like a band that is really trying to make a name for themselves"

Apparently Lex has left.
According to some fan site it was between Gabe or Lex.
I hate Gabe.
He never fucking smiles in photos with his fans and seems douchey.

nah dude Gabe is fucking cool
i met him before they played and we just chilled and drank a rockstar then he said "i gotta get back there dude" and i was like "alright man fucking tear it up"
and then afterwards at the signing we talked for like 10 minutes and i was telling all kinds of stuff like "what you do on guitar i can only dream about doing" and junt like that and he was blushing and shit.

The lead singer is always going to win a fight. Case closed.

their new guitar player isnt bad. he's likeable and still meshes with the band very well.
i'll vouch for that i spent around 30 minutes with them

Austin?
He's also in Lexx's over band - The Panix.
They play punk / thrash music. Its pretty good, they reply to my comments on Myspace and everything!
I dunno, he js comes off as arrogant, he never smiles for pictures - despite the fans being the reason he's still there - and is a liar. He says he doesnt drink and smoke etc, but being the stalker I am - theres photos of him doing that in Lexx's myspace photos.
And besides, Zakk is just as good at vocals.
With Lexx being a better guitarist.

Lol, my favorite bands include Metallica, The Beatles, The Offspring, and Coheed and Cambria. I'm not one for younger people. I'm just saying, the age really bugs me. I just feel like they will be pushed higher then they should because lead singer and guitarist is like 16.

Well if they put out good music then it wont really matter. Age doesnt matter singing quality does.
