That's like my little sister. So I got hooked on MCR right when I saw I'm Not OK music vid for the first time and she was sitting right next to me on the couch. I said to her "hmm... I llike this, who is this band I wonder, they are funny" and she just answered like "Are you kidding, they look like freaks and retards, and this song sucks. And even after that when they got huge with Helena and Ghost of You, I strted to love them and my sister would always say that MCR is an "emo", "crapppy" and "they suck". So now with TBP coming out I start talking about my dad about the MCR concert I am going to in May with my sister right next to me. I said something about how I thought they would be playing the entire Black Parade set, and my sis butts in saying, what's your fav song on the album? I say Dead! and shes like "eh, that onesok" I like track 4 (Sharpest Lives) and I was stunned. She always hated MCR with a passion and now she loves The Black Parade. Ugh, I hate my sis. I would rather her hate them so I can torture her with the, but now she somehow knows all the tracks off TBP and likes it a lot, stupid illegal downloading on internet.

HAHA. MCR is definitely not the greatest band that plays live but there shows are filled with so much energy that you get caught up in the whole experience and it turns out that the show ends up being a good experience.

substitute "sex" for "band that plays live" and the same can also be said.

OMG, I saw them live on Monday (21st) in Seattle and it was fucking amazing, they can sure put on a show. And I loved how they change their outfits after they finish the Black Parade album and put up the revenge background. But anyways, their props were amazing, the intro with Gerard coming out of a stretcher singing The End, and the lights, the fireworks, the confetti during the finale of Welcome to the Black Parade, the fire used in Mama and House of Wolves, it was the best show I've been to. Too bad their opening band really sucked, shitty screamo hardcore band.

No offence, but I thought people went to a concert to hear good music, not watch a shitty screamo band being "funny". I don't think they were trying to be ridiculus, just trying to suck is what it seemed like. And their bassist was the worst I have ever seen, he sucked so much.

About the Teenagers vid, I'm starting to get a little pissed, what the hell is taking them so long to release it? The first release date was set for May 1/April 30. And now it's almost June.

Huh, it seems like people are either a 3 Cheers fan or a Black Parade fan, but not really both. I guess I'm just special becuase I can't even decide which I like better, both are too good to be put second. On 3 Cheers, I only skip past the interlude and Ghost of You, all others are great songs, but on the Black Parade I always skip Cancer and most of the time will skip I Don't Love You, those songs are very weak. I think TBP is more consistent and has more songs I like to listen to, but 3 cheers has this dark, great, harder sound which I love. But I think the guitar work on both albums is flat out fantastic. Oh, and when I saw them and they played The Black Parade all the way through, it just added something to the songs, while on 3 Cheers, they didn't even play my favorite song ever by MCR (Thank You for the Venom).

ironaically they played thank you for the venom on the black parade tour.

WTF??? They didn't play it in Seattle on May 21 when I saw them. But for some strange reason they decided to play The Jetset of Life is Going to Kill You instead, what a rip off, my favorite song not being played when it's being played everywhere else. Oh, and they played Heaven Help Us too. Other than those 2 surprises, the 3 Cheers songs were pretty predictable, Helena, I'm Not OK, You Know What they do to Guys like us in Prison, and Cemetery Drive.

Aha, very true indeed, but when I saw them on Thje Black Parade Tour, it was definitely a hit (cept they didn't even play Thank You for the Venom, AKA my favorite song by them). However from the 2 biggest name concerts I have seen, MCR was more of a showman show similar to a KISS show while Megadeth was all about the music. Not saying MCR didn't care about the music, but their set pretty much looked like something from Broadway, and honestly, the music was not what they were trying to play up, it was the fact that they are a fucking show and very awesome to see live. I'd see em again for sure though, definitely for sure.

I think that Three Cheers was the best, and that Bullets is behind it. There aren't really any songs I don't like on either, but I just think that the production on Three Cheers is better. Black Parade was great for like the three months after it was released... now it sort of bores me.

songwriter07
10-30-2007, 05:41 PM
I have Three Cheers and The Black Parade and I love them both but for different reasons.

In the end they are just different, its called progression. It happens to all bands, if it doesn't fans bitch just as much as when it does. In the end, its a double edged sword and I feel really sorry for bands who are just trying to do something new and then get hated on by their fans.

I think its great, I get two different albums... If I'm in the mood for a more thrashy sound I pick up Three Cheers, if I want more of a Magnum Opus theatrical rock sound I go for Black Parade. In the end I can't go wrong.

I'll have to look into Bullets

NEW SONG? WTF?

Eh I listened to the new song and it is too poppy for me. Not hard enough IMO. COnsidering my fav song by them is Thank You For the Venom I think this is a big step down. I want the metal-influenced, dark as hell MCR, not the poppy teeny bopper MCR. However, with that being said, MCR is WAY different live than they are in studio so this could turn out to be a fantastic song.

the new song is hard to tell, it has good potential, but the quality is shitty and it's a live performance so we can't really tell. It just seemed like the guitars were hollow, as opposed to that ram it down, dark and fast guitar sound of songs like Bury Me iin Black or Thank you for the Venom.

Underrated tracks on that album include To the End, It's Not A Fasion Statement, and Cemetery Drive, however they do play that one live. I just love the energy on that album. The Black Parad is a incredible album, but it's a little lighter and a little straightforward, but what the hell am I saying? I fucking love TBP to death, point is, for me, guitars make a good album great, and both 3 Cheers and The Black Parade have unbelievable guitar work. Not to sound like I dislike MCR, but I honestly think that Ray Toro is the man that carries that band, let's face it, Bob is a very straightforwards drummer, Mikey's bass is pretty inaudible at times, and Frank is just a mediocre rythm guitarist.

I don't get why they are on hiatus, everyone SEEMS to get along with one another, I mean Christ, the bassist and lead singer are brothers. OK, this is directly from wikipedia, which means it is possible none of this is true, however, a few interesting sidenotes on here I thought were cool.

and I quote....

"In September 2007, My Chemical Romance confirmed they have no plans to record a new album until at least mid-2008,[20] though there are conflicting reports that the group will record late in 2007 for an early-2008 release.

On September 24, 2007, the group's lead vocalist Gerard Way has stated the group plans to release two more singles from The Black Parade, both of which will feature music videos directed by Way himself. Mama will be released on 11th January 2008. Way also stated that bassist, and brother, Mikey Way will rejoin the group on tour, following his break from touring after his March 2007 marriage.

Despite the group saying they would not write songs until 2008, they played a new song recently, although technically untitled it has garnered the fan given name "Stay" as it was the only discernible word at the song's first performance."

So, looks like Mama, plus another song will have music vids to them, cool, but damn, 5 music videos off one album, that's a lot of work. So there is reports of the band saying no music until late 2008 or later, but then there are reports saying yeah maybe an early 2008 recording schedule, so it's really up in the air.

Father Superior

I highly doubt with hits like Welcome to the Black Parade, Teenagers, and Mama that MCR isn't going to play any of the songs at future concerts.

Gerard is both a showman and a genius. The next concert he'll probably be like, "As you may know, our good friends, The Black Parade, recently passed away, but their spirit and music live on!"

Tis not your fault. I relied on wiki and it bit me in teh ass.

im thinkin we probably wont. unless gerard said himself that they were doing a "Mama" video. then it may have been delayed.

...well, he did direct it.

slimseany66
01-15-2008, 02:40 PM
yeah, he supposedly said they were doing a mama music video and he was the one to direct the music video...just wikipedia it. For MCR, singles mean music videos with how MTV popular they have gotten, the last single not to have a vid was Thank You For The Venom, but even that got little air play.

What's this I hear about James Dewees becoming the full time keyboardist for MCR? Say it ain't so! I need my Reggie.

Try to cite that page for a college paper, and they'll laugh in your face as they write a big fat zero on your paper.

Yea, Reggie and Alkaline Trio opened up. That was a great show since Reggie and Alkaline trio are two of my favorite bands.

The single was rumored to be released on November 12, 2007, however, Frank Iero later denied ever giving a release date saying, "I don’t know. The idea for the video is a really cool idea. I don’t wanna give it away in case we do it, but there is no talk about doing it – soon. We have no time in our schedule to do it and I don’t know if it will ever happen. So, we’ll see. I don’t know where everyone got the exact date from. We never said anything about a date. It is a rumor. I would love to do it, I just don’t know whether we would be able to do it or have to time to do it."

Well, well, well. Here we go again. ***UPDATED!!! NEW SAN FRANCISCO SHOW ADDED!***

I know it has been a long time since we have written you guys. We have been very, very busy touring in places that we have never been to before. To all of our fans in Southeast Asia, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. What an amazing time we had and you all made us feel so welcome the entire time. We will be back in your part of the world as soon as we can.

We are also just finishing up the process for our CD/DVD "THE BLACK PARADE IS DEAD!". As soon as we have a solid release date on it, we will let you all know. It was filmed over a few weeks in October and looks incredible.

We wanted to let our fans in the US know that we are going to give it one more pass before we go write a new record. We are really excited about the tour. Our good friends Billy Talent and Drive By are coming with us. We could not think of a better tour to go away from The Black Parade. Below are some dates and there will be more coming. We promise to keep you guys posted as we get them booked. We wanted to come to these places. We selected them. We really love the venues we are playing and wanted to get away from big shows for a while. When we started this thing, we could feel you guys right in front of us. It is time for that to happen again. See you soon.

Nice job guys, way to skip Seattle yet land in Seattle's little twin city Portland. Oh welll, I probably wouldn't have gone anyway, I saw them in May last year. But it would be nice to see them with a regular setlist and not just playing TBP, even the album is amazing.

But it would be nice to see them with a regular setlist and not just playing TBP, even though the album sucks my nutsack.
